Testimonials and Comments
“I have always wanted to help people with health issues but always fell short of the opportunity. The trip to Costa Rica and Nicaragua changed me completely, and assured me that medicine was the ultimate career for me. I almost consider myself a student doctor! I did physical examinations, diagnoses, tooth cleanings and extractions, and prescribed appropriate medications to patients! Yes, this experience may sound too good to be true to an undergraduate, but it is the truth. I assisted real patients; in fact, I worked side-by-side with actual medical doctors. I will always remember how the patients walked into the clinics with looks of worriment, pain, agony, and helplessness on their faces, and how they walked out with smiles, from ear to ear. Despite the fact that I’m just a pre-medical student, I assisted patients to the best of my abilities and was able to make a real difference in the poverty stricken Costa Rican and Nicaraguan communities. Overall, the trip to Costa Rica and Nicaragua was a life changing experience and I highly recommend it to any student aspiring to enter any health profession.”

“It’s one thing to learn about medicine and international healthcare through the media, but it’s another thing to experience it directly. This trip has not only advanced my knowledge and skills as a pre-health professional, but it has taught me so much about life in general. I’ve really learned to appreciate the simple things in life.”
