RHYTHM OF HOPE OF

AFRICA

Only about one in six people around the globe live privileged lives, meaning that all of their basic needs are adequately met, and where opportunity, personal safety, healthcare, education and freedom are reasonably assured. When coupled with poor sanitation, insufficient health care, and inadequate preventative measures, treatable illnesses like pneumonia, malaria, diarrhea and malnutrition become life-threatening.

Building Bridges is interested in bettering the quality of life for underserved individuals across the world, by any means necessary. Therefore, Building Bridges has initiated the Rhythm of Hope of Africa. The Rhythm of Hope of Africa (ROHA) is predicated on helping people help themselves through constructive medical, social, and financial facilitation. Our intentions are to help build a better Africa, and we belieive that this could be done by getting to the roots of the problems and empowering others.

The ROHA aims to help improve Africa through:

  • Conducting free clinics that adhere to the needs of individuals in different regions of Africa
  • Promoting healthier mothers and infants through medical care and family planning
  • Water, sanitation, and hygiene education projects that create healthier households
  • Empowerment and decreasing the instances of HIV/AIDS and STDs through educating communities and their leaders
  • Emergency response programs
  • Improving educational opportunity through financing educational training

Current Projects and ROHA

Building Bridges has begun to plan for a project in Namuwongo, Uganda. Namuwongo, Zone B is a refugee camp in Uganda, located just outside Kampala. HIV rates for the camp are estimated to be as high as 30%. Sanitation and hygiene are almost non-existent, leading to cholera outbreaks every other year. Additionally, inhabitants of the camp suffer from intestinal infestations, dysentery, fungal infections and vitamin A deficiency. Medical relief is a vital component for the stability of the camp and requires constant intervention by medical personnel and volunteers. Therefore, Building Bridges plans to take the necessary actions to contribute to some resolutions to these issues. Building Bridges desires to really make a difference, and would love to found a Rhythm of Hope of Africa.
